After a very long time with no formal golf for our Society, we were delighted to finally play our first match, the invitation from the SGC at Haywards Heath GC.

Having waited for so long we were looking anxiously at the weather forecast; we weren’t totally lucky as we all got very wet for a few holes. But as we were having such a good day it didn’t matter in the least. Probably the Halfway House sold more hot drinks than ice cream – all very generously paid for by the HH Club Captain Niall Addison.

The SLC&SGA were current holders of the trophy, presented by Joe Lee in 1975, his daughter Carole was a member of the Ladies Team. It was obviously time it had a new home, and the emphatic victory (8 : 2) for the men ensured this happened. Having given the SGC Captain (Keith Talbot) the trophy Rosemary was delighted to receive a beautiful engraved vase. She also gave Keith some engraved glassware to mark the occasion. The Lady captain of HH, Fiona Spencer, was also playing, and was warmly welcomed.

Following this we enjoyed a delicious meal, with wine. As formal speeches are not possible at the moment, goodbyes were quickly said.
