Thursday August 5th saw the SLC&SGA hold our inaugural mixed event at Ham Manor Golf Club in West Sussex. A field of 30 couples played a Better Ball stableford competition.
There were four prizes for Nearest the Pin, but difficult conditions meant that only two were awarded. Winners of bottle of wine were Jackie Lee from Pyecombe on the 4th hole and Todd White from Cowdray on the 13th. The best score on the Front Nine with 21 points were Sylvia Huggair & Trevor Goswell from Willingdon. Also on 21 points were Elaine & Tas Violaris from Cuckfield who secured the prize for the Back Nine.
In third place were Margaret Moore & Ed Brooks (Haywards Heath) with 40 points, second were Jenny & Paul Dixon (Cottesmore) with 41 points. On countback the winning pair, also with 41 points, were Jo & Rod Maddams from Slinfold. The prizes were Vouchers from the Pro Shop.
Ham Manor proved to be an excellent venue and made us feel very welcome. Touches included the SLC&SGA logo painted on the first tee. A delicious buffet lunch followed the golf.
The Event Organiser was Joanna Greenstreet who did a wonderful job, both before and on the day. Helping her doing the cards was Lesley Talbot. A very big Thank You to both ladies!
