Our first match of the season was played at Dale Hill and our opponents Surrey arrived with a very strong team. Following a light lunch, the teams were introduced and the battle began The matches were played in a great friendly spirit – just as these matches should be.
Later, during dinner, I could tell from the chatter and the relaxed atmosphere in the room, that everyone, Sussex & Surrey had clearly enjoyed the day. The Old Course at Dale Hill was in excellent condition, the weather was amazing and the hospitality couldn’t have been better.
As I previously mentioned, Surrey had fielded a very strong team at least six players had a handicap below 10. Sadly, on this occasion we were soundly beaten 7 -1. However, I know quite a few of our matches were lost on the 17th and 18th.
A very special fun day was enjoyed by all
