It was a gorgeous day for our Annual Match v The Sussex Golf Captains at Haywards Heath.  Captains’ Peter Ward and Nannette Meeten agreed on just two adjustment shots (being the difference between the standard scratch off white and red tees).  The pairings were carefully considered so that no pair were giving away a huge amount of shots.

Nannette had picked a strong team of 20 who took up the challenge of winning the coveted trophy after being runners up for 3 years and it worked as the ladies won 7-3.

With sandwiches served for lunch the Club Captain, Mitch Clark welcomed everybody to Haywards Heath before the matches teed off in the hot sun.

After a superb dinner the two Captain’s exchanged gifts and Peter handed over the Joe Lee Salver to Nannette. Joe’s daughter, Carole was invited to join the ladies team and played a part in their victory by winning her match alongside Vice Captain, Anne Slade.

Peter had prepared three Gateaux for everyone’s enjoyment and proudly distributed a slice to everyone to accompany their after dinner coffee.
