Our first event of the year got off to an excellent start with a warm and sunny day, with just a little breeze. Mid Sussex Golf Club hosted 81 of our ladies in teams of three, representing 22 clubs to enjoy a Stableford Competition with two from three scores to count.
Janet Ridden, Lady Captain of Mid Sussex, was delighted and thanked everyone for their generosity in raising £225 for her charity, Therapeutic Riding at Chailey Heritage, from the raffle.
Thanks were extended to both our lovely lady starters, Janis Standing and Val Kennedy, for sending us on our way. Thanks must also go to the Greenkeepers for all their hard work in maintaining the course in such excellent condition, which produced some high scoring results.
The day finished off with an excellent meal, thanks to the catering and bar staff for looking after us so very well. We must not forget that such events take forward planning and organising which is down to your SLC&SGA committee and especially the Hon. Sec., Elaine Fell who has once again done a splendid job.
This only leaves the results in which there were some amazing scores, so Congratulations to all our prize winners. The top winning team came in with 87 points, who were Sue Sexton, Sheila Payne and Jan Wellfare, all from Willingdon, followed by Carole Hayward, Sandy Flynn and Sue Dalley, all Copthorne ladies, in second place with a score of 76 points.
