A very large field of 96 ladies from 23 different clubs met at the Nevill Golf Club to complete in our Autumn Meeting. The weather was a little misty as play got under way, improving as the day went on, all be it the sun not managing to break through the cloud .
We welcomed Denise Frazer, Lady Captain of the Nevill, who organised a wine raffle in aid of her Charity ‘Demelza House Children’s Hospice’. Members were thanked for their generosity in raising well over £200.
Thanks were extended to all the staff at the Nevill including Bill and Colin for starting the ladies on the 1stand 10thtees. We were very well looked after by Shaun and his team who served us an excellent two course carvery, and Jack for looking after us so well in the bar.
Thanks to all the hard work of the Greenkeepers, the course was in excellent condition considering the dry summer, which has left many a fairway looking rather bare. The greens however were fast and tricky, with many of us founding ourselves three or even four putting.
The SLC&SGA Committee were thanked for their help, especially Elaine Fell, Hon. Sec. for her superb planning and organisation. This competition is our last event for 2018 – we have some great venues lined up for 2019 so hope to see many of our members at those events next year.
This was a stableford competition played off full handicap with two scores counting on each hole. Congratulations to all prize winners, with the overall winners of Brenda Gilbey, Anne Thorpe and Maureen Briggs from Sweetwoods, with 74 points.
