Our return match with Annie Idle and her team of ladies from Kent was held at Ashford Golf Club. The weather was benign and there were no dramas getting to the venue this time! We were delighted to be joined by the Kent Society’s President, Pat and the Ashford Ladies’ Captain, Elaine for bacon rolls before the match.
The parkland course was in great condition, although the greens were tricky to read and very fast and for some the incessant noise from the adjacent M20 was quite intrusive. Our hosts were very hospitable and our thanks go to the staff at Ashford GC who looked after us very well.
Judging from the chatter around the tables at supper, everyone had enjoyed their day of competitive but friendly golf. Quite a few of the matches were decided on the last hole, so it was nip and tuck but, sadly, we could not quite make it over the line, losing 4½ – 3½.
This was our last match of the inter-county series and thanks go to all our members who played and especially those who stood by as reserves. We hope you have thoroughly enjoyed representing SLC&SGA both home and away.
