Report on the Autumn Meeting at the Dyke GC 5th October 2022
So, a very popular venue attracted 30 teams of 3 to this event, the largest number of entrants this year!
The forecast for the day was not good – gale force winds with rain coming in at lunch time. Unfortunately, they didn’t get it wrong! It was brutal conditions and at one point the course was almost unplayable. The rain turned to sleet and was driving into our faces on the last few holes which was directly into the wind. You just couldn’t see to play!
Generally, the scores were poor, although there is always one team that manages to overcome the conditions and play well. With an amazing score of 72 points (best two scores to count on each hole),Kay Grindell the Dyke, Anne Carnegie, Littlehampton and Caroline Hawkes, Chichester, won the day. Well done ladies!
Thanks go to the Dyke golf club for hosting the event, Joanna Greenstreet and Jo Fife for running the day and Liz Street for helping with the results. £330 was raised for the Lady Captain’s charity being The British Heart Foundation.
