We knew it was going to be a hot one, so alongside the prizes and welcome gift, vast amounts of water were also bought for our valiant players as temperatures were set to hit 33 degrees in the shade!  We held our first ever Invitation event at Mid Sussex on 30 June – our aim was to welcome new members on board, and encourage Lady Captains and their Vices to find out more and get involved with our Association, as well as help us spread the message at their clubs.

We welcomed 21 ladies from 11 different clubs to play a fun Texas Scramble followed by afternoon tea and prizes. Everyone had the opportunity to meet other members and play with different people, and it was evident that much team bonding was going on with some great golf played.  Despite the sapping temperature, everybody had fun and there were plenty of smiles to be had – the biggest ones when folks were told on the 16th green that we’d decided forget the last two holes and the air conditioning was waiting (never nice walking away from the club house to play two more holes when you’re hot and tired!)

Thank you to all past and current Lady Captains for giving so much to their clubs, and even bigger praise for Heather Skinner (Cottesmore) and Susan Chappell-Smith (Eastbourne Downs) who are embarking on their 4th and 5th rounds of Captaincy.

Congratulations to everyone who played in great spirit on the day, and with only 5 points between the teams it was keenly contested.

1st place – Net 52 – Carol Wells (Eastbourne Downs), Jane Holden (Cowdray Golf), Dawn Long (East Brighton)

2nd place – Net 53 – Debs Battle (Mannings Heath), Lynne Thomson (Worthing), Louise Simmons (Dale Hill)

NTPs – 8th Julia Hoskins (Mannings Heath) 15th Paula Laird (Dyke)

Huge thank you to our Competition Secretary Caroline Angella for all her hard work, and Vice Captain Carol Hall for stepping into the breach to play at the last minute!
