We played our annual match with the Sussex Golf Captains at Piltdown Golf Club on 16th September and we could not have wished for a more perfect September day.
The sun shone all afternoon and everyone made the most of it. Piltdown was in beautiful condition and the heather was lovely – as long as you didn’t land in it!
We were treated to a fantastic meal after play and the camaraderie in the dining room was very evident with a great feeling of friendship from everyone, which is what our Association is all about. Easy to see why this is a very popular match.
The queue for the dessert table!
The competition was Greensomes Stableford, the men taking six drives, ladies six and then six free drives. Piltdown was as challenging as ever, but if you kept to the fairway you had good chances to score.
The results were as follows: losing on countback with 37 points Wendy Shergold and Peter Rodger; 2nd Phil Williamson and Wendy Melville with 37 points, and the winning pair with 38 points were Jane White (Horsham Golf) and Rasoul Shahilow (Eastbourne Downs GC).
