The Captain hosted our annual Committee Outing – does Captain’s Away Day sound more fun? – on Thursday at Hill Barn Golf Club. The venue was chosen since many of us hadn’t played it before, and we’d heard lots of good things so decided to investigate further on our annual ‘jolly’! The format was fourball betterball, and partners were drawn out of the hat before play so no cries of ‘fix’! The course was in excellent condition despite the long drought this summer, and many of the holes presented some interesting challenges. A lovely part of Sussex, with great views across the Downs and out to sea – the course certainly lived up to the description of ‘hidden gem’ and we all vowed to return. Thoroughly recommended if you’ve not played it before. The golf was followed by an excellent afternoon tea, with lots of everything and – despite our very best efforts – we weren’t able to polish it off!
The event was won by Jo Fife (Treasurer) & Clare Parkinson (Captain’s guest) with an excellent 44 points. Nearest the pins were won by Carol Hall (Vice Captain) and Clare who had a very sparkly day!
Thank you to Hill Barn for their warm welcome and excellent hospitality.
