The Sussex Lady Captains & Secretaries made the journey to Kent on a glorious, very sunny day for our annual match.
We were warmly welcomed by Fran and the lovely ladies of Kent, who made us feel right at home. Before we could think about picking up a golf club, however, we were faced with the very important task of tackling some enormous bacon and egg rolls! They certainly did the job and kept us fuelled until our well-deserved meal later in the day.
I played Sittingbourne & Milton Regis many years ago, but what a transformation! The course now boasts two water features. Thankfully, I managed to resist the temptation to contribute to the collection of golf balls already residing in them!
Once the golf was over, we were treated to some delicious food and enjoyed a very sociable afternoon with our Kent friends.
The golf itself was a closely fought affair, ending in a very friendly 4–4 draw — so nobody had to buy the drinks for winning!
A huge thank you to Fran and the Kent ladies for such a warm welcome and a thoroughly enjoyable day. We’re already looking forward to welcoming the Kent ladies to Sussex next year.
