When I booked this event almost eight months ago, little did I know that 17th August would be so warm and humid! We and the Past Captain’s met promptly at 12.00 noon to enjoy a light lunch of Sandwiches and Fries and the pairings were announced for the afternoon Mixed Greensomes Competition. Carol Hall our Lady Captain and Andy Plowright Sussex Golf Captain led the way. Unfortunately, due to the current arid weather conditions at CBGC and the hard bounces it was quite a challenge to even find your ball. Unfortunately this did lead to a long afternoon. Nevertheless, we soldiered on and our eventual winners with quite a magnificent score of 40 points, bearing in mind the conditions of the parched course were:-
1st Place Louise Simmons & Adam Blackburn
2nd Place Nannette Meeten & Phillip Williamson
with Nearest the Pins for Brenda Gilbey and Joe Angella
A huge thank you to all the staff at CBGC and the excellent catering on the day.
Last but not least a big thank you to President Keith Talbot for assembling such a splendid team of 20 gentlemen. And from comments I’ve received, I believe an enjoyable day was had by all.
