Our first event of the 2026 season, the Spring Meeting, was held at Mannings Heath this week. Mannings is a delightful location and there have been lots of changes over the years with it now also operating as a wine estate. Lots of ladies were browsing and purchasing in the clothes sale and at least one lady was spotted sampling and buying wine.
26 teams set off in beautiful sunshine with the assistance of Ian and Simon as the starters. The mini shotgun start was especially tough for the group who had to start on the aptly named ‘hell corner’ hole. Overall, the scores were good considering the stern challenge Mannings Heath presents.
The meal was a cold buffet with chips which was enjoyed by all. I was told the cheesecake was to die for, so of course I had to try some, and I must agree the reports were correct.
Thank you to Mannings Heath golf club for their amazing team who helped to make the day a great success. A special thank you to Competition Secretary Caroline Angella for all her hard work and also Clare Parkinson who assisted on the day. Our Comms Officer, Linda Atkins, took lots of photos – she did her best to capture every group, but apologies to any that were missed.
