Spring Meeting @ The Dyke Golf Club 18th May 2017

May 18, 2017 | Archives

84 ladies from 19 clubs met at The Dyke Golf Club on 18 May for our first event of 2017. The day started dry and cloudy, however by midday the rain had set in but mercifully no wind. The golf course was playing long but was in splendid condition and thanks were expressed to the greenkeepers for all their hard work. Despite a bad accident on the A23 almost all ladies teed off eventually with some shuffling around of start times. Commiserations to Judith Gallagher who was trapped behind the incident and only managed to catch up with her team on the 5th hole. However, with her first shot she won the nearest the pin prize – who needs practice before playing!

Thanks were extended to both the starters, Anup Vasant, Secretary of SCGU and Tony Case, Past Captain of The Dyke and to Course Marshal, Robert Fell.

£400 was raised for the Dyke Lady Captain’s Charity, Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice. Thanks go to Bali Bassan from The Dyke GC for organising this raffle.

Gratitude was expressed to the bar staff and the catering team who produced a lovely meal to round off an enjoyable day. Thanks were also extended to SLC&SGA Committee for their help, especially Hon. Sec., Elaine Fell, for her splendid organisation.

This was a stableford competition played off full handicap with two scores to count on each hole – the scoring was quite tight at the top but congratulations go to the winners: Pat Jenks & Theresa Williamson from Haywards Heath and Alicia Phillips from East Sussex National with 77 points.
